Installation of Solar Panels on Metal Container – Hybrid Inverter with Energy Storage
When some customers run out of available space, they have to think and invent solution to expand their solar photovoltaic plants. In the present project, a customised steel structure was made by TFS Coventry (Steel stockholder and supplier). We respected all the engineering practised and installed 3kWp (12x 250 Watt Eging solar panels) on a single surface. The creep-age and clearance between the panels was critical to reduce the air force on such a large surface.
For cycling applications and every day operation the AGM batteries with valve-regulated technology is the right technology, in cloudy days and during night hours the energy consumption is approximately 15kWh. A 22kWh battery bank from Hoppecke was installed to the 48V DC terminals of the charger.
The main operation of a hybrid photovoltaic system with energy storage is clearly drawn in the picture below. Our energy storage will have significant contribution first hours in the morning and at night. When the dawn to dusk sensors are activated, the stored energy will power all the outdoor LED Lights.
It used to be a difficult task to install an solar inverters and battery chargers, the automation part and communication between various components was an issue. Wiring between electronics used to be quite complicated. The new generation of Photovoltaic Inverters (Voltasol Hybrid) have a smart interface, fully automated operation and built in battery charger. We added a picture from a Hybrid 5.5kW Inverter that is feeding power for self-consumption but in cloudy days, it charges the batteries of an off-grid system powers up outdoor lights.
