Voltacon, through its division, Voltacon Solar (Energy Power Conversion Systems), have supplied an off-grid solar system to TIFFERS The Bus Shelter Ipswich, a charity project run by Crownfunder Ltd using a successful crowdfunding method.

The aim of this project is to help eradicate the need to sleep rough on our streets by providing safe accommodation with full support and guidance to road of recovery by converting a double decker bus. They even provide support and guide for employment, where applicable and possible.

The bus was donated by Stephenson of Essex to be transformed into a mobile hostel for the rough sleepers in Ipswich. The bus is being converted to accommodate 14 beds each with their own LED night light, USB charging socket and privacy curtains, the seating area downstairs will also convert into beds to allow the in the bus to sleep extra 4 guests in an emergency.

There will also be wash facilities, shower and a toilet, a functional kitchen which will serve breakfast, lunch, teas and coffees etc. throughout the day. Main meals and clothes have been outsourced form different companies.

So, all this facilities will use the solar energy via the solar system provided by the Voltacon. This solar system is comprised of a 5kva Voltacon solar off-grid inverter, Voltacon solar panels, and solar batteries as well as all the necessary sundries and fuses for a smooth and safe run.

The solar panels have been installed on the roof of the bus and the solar inverter and solar batteries are installed inside the bus. The entire electricity consumption is coming from the sun.
